not the best thing to use, but it DOES do it. It is also not cheap though.Īll of that being said, I do think a 3D/2D painting solution would be great. I think Mari uses it as well if you've heard of that. I don't know of any free (or relatively cheap) programs that use it. That means it has to be plugged into something else. I tink Blender and Sculptris have painting as well although I don't think you can see the map in Sculptris which is kinda lame.Īlso to clarify (unless I'm wrong and if I am that would be GREAT) Ptex isn't a software, but middleware. No, it doesn't have pTex, but it's still useful. I really enjoy using Maxon's BodyPaint for this reason. Having the 2D and 3D to referance side by side in realtime is VERY useful though. it's the ability to paint with that much detail is whats cool !!īut yeah painting in 3D is easier although SOMETIMES it helps to paint in 2D, especially when you want to make accurate straight lines on something. just the final render to slap on our avatars. we don't need all the information in the ptex file. im sure a ptex importer / converter can be made. have it as an alternate choice to the launch button.would be great. I'm not sure if integrating it that deep is the solution, but being able to. If iClone had model paint functionality similar to that of the current CS for PhotoShop, that would be freaking awesome! Paint directly onto a 3D model. :/ Which ones can be downloaded for free (and where), and which ones do you think are actually necessary for iClone users who'd like to do a bit of painting and remodeling? Thanks in advance! Hi Dreamcube! How many 3d paint and modeling programs do you have (and how on earth can you afford ALL of them)? I've lost track. Well I suppose but wouldn't that just be a normal texture map? And you'd still need an application to paint in. Granted it will get compressed back to a simple texture map, but an accurate / detailed one at - some of the software have trials, others have occasional special programs that allow you to use the software for an extended time, and others have free versions of their software with special prices for non commercial versions - and I believe DC is a student, as well as pro, so he gets even more perks !!ģD coat is a nice painting program, they have a 30 day trial here and they are having a sale now too! or any realtime application.īy planetstardragon - 12 Years - yeah on the texture map, painting on the 3D model is easier than painting in a paint us this software is free and open source made by disney.not to mention the tools it has to paint higher resolution look really nice. It's kind of the same reason you shouldn't take a Zbrush model right out and bring it right into iClone. There might be others but not sure (mari?).īut either way, to get this into iClone, it'd have to be exported and compressed to at lesat a png or tga file. Programs that support Ptex are 3D Coat and Mudbox. While it is very interesting and useful for high detail, it would not be very useful for a realtime graphics engine such as DirectX which is what Reallusion is using to render graphics in iClone.
